Agonda Beach

Agonda Beach is 37 km from Margao, Agonda Beach is a three-kilometer long and lonely beautiful cove of white sand that is fringed with palms and casuarinas. The beach is an isolated stretch of sand and is about 2kms. The village of Agonda is typical of a small fishing village and is surrounded by about 120 acres of forest.

There are very few facilities available here with few tourists, no souvenir stalls, and no restaurants. It is also not safe to swim out too far on this beach. It is dominated by a large hill to its south. A sleepy fishing village is situated very close to the beach. The Margao to Agonda beach tour includes some other places of interests like the Cabo De Rama.

It was built in 1612 to protect Old Goa by controlling the entry to River Mandovi. The fort was equipped with an ammunition room, barracks and a church. The Agonda beach of India is dotted with palm trees on golden brown sands and the shores are softly washed by the gentle waves of the sea. The atmosphere of the fort creates a sense of history and drama that takes you back in time.

The swaying coconut trees, untouched golden sands, long uninterrupted stretch of land and blue sea all make the Agonda beach the perfect spot to come for a picnic with your friends and family. The south of the beach has a large hill which looks beautiful and dramatic. It is said that Lord Rama stayed here for few days during his 14 years exile from his kingdom.
