Situated at a distance of approximately 10 km from Mapusa, Baga is a small but perfect beach located between two famous beaches, Colva and Calangute. The beach also has many beach shacks and beach huts that sell delicious Goan food and thirst-quenching Feni. The beach begins at Fort Aguada continues as Sinquerim beach, then as Candolim Beach and merges into Calangute beach and then to Baga beach and then Anjuna Beach and then to Vagator Beach finally ending at Chapora Beach and Fort.
The lively Saturday night market here is much like the Wednesday flea market at Anjuna, only prettier under the night sky and lit up with lamps. There are plenty of handicrafts shops. Baga beach is very popular with western tourists who love to use it as a base for water sports and fishing in the area. A rocky wooded headland marks Baga beach. It is less congested in comparison to Calangute beach. The scenery here is unspoiled. The land and sea meet here in a picture perfect manner. The beach offers excellent swimming, surfing and snorkeling facilities, as well as abundant opportunity for less energetic pursuits like sunbathing, taking a walk on the palm fringed beaches, building sand castles, collecting seashells or just watching the sea play with the sand. |
