Benaulim Beach

Benaulim is still undiscovered by domestic tourists. This has helped it to maintain its natural charm. Benaulim Beach is located at a distance of 7 km to the west of Margao and it forms the center of Colva Beach. The best way to reach Benualim Beach is to go by bus, which drops you approximately one km away, and then walk down. Fringed by palm trees, this beach is well known for the 'Dolphin Cruises' it offers to the visitors.

Except the evening and weekends when the vendors roam and local come for their evening walk, the beach remains mostly uncrowded. What is best about Benaulim is of course its closeness to Colva, it is a beach where one can find a peaceful environment and relaxation. Like Colva, in Benaulim too, you will find beach shacks where you can enjoy some delicious sea food.

The arrow shifted back the hills hence forming the Konkan. The place was hence named Banavli ban means arrow and later got corrupted to Benaulim by Portuguese. It is the perfect place to forget all the worldly tensions and indulge yourself. Though a fishing destination, it is still left largely unexplored by the domestic tourists of India.

The place is also special for Christians as it's the birth place of the venerable Father Joseph Vaz. If you wish to be at some place close to nature and totally untouched, than Benaulim is the place for you. Its rosewood furniture and exquisite carvings are renowned throughout the country. There are a number of tourist spots near the beach.
