Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary This wildlife sanctuary is situated 55-km from Panajim and 38-km from Margoa. It houses a Botanical Garden, fenced Deer Park and a Zoo. It is spread over an area of merely 8 square kilometers. Though it is very small in area, it boasts of a rich variety of flora and fauna. The sanctuary also has an archaeological exhibit in the form of a statue of the diety Gajalaxmi. The wildlife sanctuary sprawling over a small area of 8 sq. kms. Situated 3000 ft. above the sea level on the slopes of Western Ghat ranges, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary is a combination of a Botanical Garden, fenced deer park and a zoo. If you have time, check out the collections at the Nature Education centre. A botanical garden, fenced deer park and a zoo constitute this sanctuary. Gaur and Sambar are part of the fauna found here. The landscape of the Bondla wildlife sanctuary is strikingly beautiful and the lush green vegetation provides a natural ecosystem.
The Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary is known more as a wildlife resort than a sanctuary. The wild animals that are housed here include Panthers, Jungle Cats, Leopard Cats, various species of Deer Sambar Deer, Spotted Deer, Hog Deer, Barking Deer and Mouse Deer Wild Boar, Crocodiles, Snakes and Malabar Giant Squirrels. It really enthralls to hear the chirping of large variety of birds including Indian scimitar babbler, Brown fish owl, Oriental dwarf Kingfisher and Ruby throated yellow bulbul.
