Perur Patteeswara Swamy Temple
It is the popular temple in the city. This temple is situated 7 kms
west of Coimbatore near river Noyyal Coimbatore. The presiding deity
is Shiva and the 'Swayambu Lingam' is the idol worshipped here. The
temple stands on the banks of the holy river Noyyal called 'Kanchi
Manadi' by the locals. The Temple is at its colourful best in March,
when the Panguni Uthiram festival is celebrated. Pilgrims from all
over visit this spot to pay homage to their ancestors. It is
believed that the mortal remains of the dead turn into white stones
after about 144 days.
The temple is open for worship during 5.00 to 12.00 and 15.00 to
20.00 hours. Closed between 12 noon to 3 pm
Maruthamalai Sri Murugan Temple:
Dedicated to Lord Murugan. This temple is located on a hillock is 12
Kms from Coimbatore railway station and bus stand. Temple is opened
during 5 to 12 and 14 to 20 hours. Special poojas are done on
Kiruthigal.
Thirumoorthy Temple:
It is situated at the foot of Thirumoorthy hills adjoining the
Thirumoorthy dam. This is about 20 Kms from Udumalpet on the highway
from Palani to Coimbatore.
Sri Vasavi Kannika Parameswari Amman Temple :
This temple is situated in Vysial Street. The temple is open from 6
am and closed between 12 noon to 5 pm. Navarathri Celebrations
during September is an important festival.
Palani:
The temple of Lord Muruga is located on the Palani hills. It is 105
Kms from Coimbatore. The presiding deity is Dandayuthapani. It is
one of the six abodes of Lord Muruga and one of the major pilgrim
centres in South India.
Pollachi:
40 Km from Coimbatore on the way to Parambikulam-Aliyar project. A
temple dedicated to Mariamman and another to Subramanya are located
here. There are beautiful stone carvings like a five hooded serpent,
a Yali with a chain from its mouth and carved zodiacal signs in the
Subramanya temple.
