Sri Morjee Temple Morjee Temple is location 15-km From Mapusa, the temple is dedicated to Kanakeshwar Baba or Bodgeshwar, locally known as Bongini. Duration of the festival is nearly a month, beginning from "Phalgun Shudha Panchami". The concluding 7 days is a big cultural and religious affair when people not only from Goa, but also from Sindhudurga in Maharashtra and Karwar in Karnataka assemble in large numbers. The god is regarded as agngavani to whom vows are made and who fulfills desires of the devotees. On the fulfillment of desires, people offer presents to the God as promised by them earlier. The last seven days of the festival attract a large number of devotees not only from Goa, but also from Sindhudurga in Maharashtra and Karwar in Karnataka. A festival is held in the temple premises in the month of December/January when thousands of devotees flock to place to worship Kanakeshwar Baba. |
