Dona Paula Beach

This beach has also been the location for many Indian movies, the most famous being Ek Duje Ke Liye. The Dona Paula beach is also a haven for adventure sports buffs for the water sports facilities available here. Situated on the outskirts of the quaint capital city of Panaji , just 23 km from the airport. Perfectly nestled between the bustling North and the secluded south of Goa, guests are able to enjoy easy access and mobility to all the beautiful experiences that the region has to offer. People throng the Dona Paula beach not only to enjoy the sun and the sea but also to indulge in water sports on the clear waters.

The Dona Paula Beach offers an opportunity to the tourists to have a sunbath and buy cheap seaside goods from local vendors.  History goes that the beach is named after Dona Paula de Menzes, daughter of a viceroy (in colonial India), who threw herself off the cliff, when refused permission to marry a local fisherman, Gaspar Dias.

Locals say that the beach derives its name from Dona Paula de Menzes, who was the daughter of a viceroy during the colonial yoke. Fishermen-turned-local vendors also sell straw hats, lace handkerchiefs, and spices in these shops. An aura of eeriness engulfs the beach, partly due to the legend associated with it.
