Shri Saneeswaran Temple

The Saneeswarar temple of Sri Dharbarenyeswaraswamy Devasthanam attracts devotees not only from India but also from other Countries. This temple is unique in its kind and is the only temple dedicated to Lord Saturn where he is a blessing God having Abhayahastham. Since the principal Deity Lord Dharbaranyeswara and his consort "Bhogamartha poon Mulayal" as called Praneswari have the power to offer benediction to the devotees, hundreds of them visit this temple daily.

There is also additional attraction in the shape of holy tanks which exists here are said to posses healing powers literally and metaphorically. According to legends the temple belongs to 7th century B.C. The Lord Siva has many names Aadhipuriswarar because Brahma worshipped here and got salvation, Dharbaranyeswarar because the temple is situated amidst bushes of Kusa grass.

Saturn is the biggest planet in the solar system and is only next to Jupiter in size and magnitude. Thirunallar is located 5 kilometers west of Karaikal in the bus route of Karaikal-Mayiladuthurai and Kumbakonam. There is an engaging story about his birth and growth.Samjanadevi, who was married to Lord Suryan, feared to live with him because of his burning heat. After they had three children, Vaiswathamanu, Yaman and Yamunai, she decided to go back to her parental house.
