Silathoranam It is conceived that this source is dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara idol. Also the rock look likes and appears to be the hood of a serpent, a conch and a discus. This is one of the striking and outstanding geological marvels. This is said to be about 2,500 million years old and is technically known as Eparchaean Unconformity, located about one km to the north of the temple. This long familiar Silathoranam is an excellent and unique mark of antiquity. Quite number of tourists makes their visit to envision the outstanding attraction of the place.
Some others are of the opinion that the arch might have been the result of a wave action from marine transgression or intensified weathering conditions and erosion. In the whole world, it is one of only three such natural wonders.
Geologists have identified the rocks on the hill as pre-Cambrian, and this arch formation suggests an antiquity of several million years to the Tirumala hill.
